1. Hillewaere Insurance
The Hillewaere Insurance Group is a group of companies active in insurance brokerage.
The following companies recognised by FSMA in Belgium as independent insurance brokers are part of the Hillewaere Insurance group:

2 Method of operation
2.1 Insurance brokerage
As an insurance broker, we specialise in advising on, offering and managing insurance contracts. To this end, we carry out the preparatory work up to the conclusion of the insurance contracts and assist in their management and execution, including claims declarations.
2.2 Insurance sectors
The insurance brokers within the Hillewaere Insurance group act for all insurance branches listed below.
2.2.1 Group of "non-life" activities
- Accidents
- Accidents other than accidents at work: lump sum payments; indemnities; combinations thereof; persons transported.
- Work accidents.
- Sickness: lump-sum benefits; indemnities; combinations thereof; dependency insurance.
- Vehicle airframe excluding railway rolling stock: all damage caused to motor vehicles and vehicles without engines.
- Casco railway rolling stock: all damage caused to it.
- Aircraft airframe: all damage caused to it.
- Marine and inland waterway vessel hull: all damage caused to inland waterway vessels; lake vessels; maritime vessels.
- Goods transported including merchandise, baggage and all other goods: all damage caused to goods or baggage transported, irrespective of the nature of the means of transport.
- Fire and natural events: all damage caused to goods (except those included in the branches referred to under 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7) when caused by fire; explosion; storm; natural events, except hail and frost; nuclear and earthquake.
- Other damage to goods: all damage caused to goods (with the exception of the goods included under branches referred to under 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7), when such damage is caused by hail or frost, as well as by all other events not already included under 8, such as theft.
- C.L. motor vehicles: any liability arising from the use of motor vehicles.
- Compulsory civil liability motor insurance.
- Carrier liability insurance.
- C.L. aircraft: any liability arising from the use of aircraft (including carrier liability).
- C.L. sea and inland waterway vessels: any liability arising from the use of sea and inland waterway vessels (including carrier liability).
- General C.L.: all other forms of liability not already mentioned under numbers 10, 11 and 12.
- Credit: general insolvency; export credit; installment sales; mortgage credit; agricultural credit.
- Bail: direct bail; indirect bail.
- Miscellaneous pecuniary losses: risk of lack of work; (general) shortfall in receipts; bad weather; loss of profits; ongoing high overheads; unforeseen business expenses; loss of sales value; loss of rent or income; indirect business losses other than those mentioned above; non-farm-related pecuniary losses; other pecuniary losses.
- Legal aid.
- Assistance: assistance to persons in difficulty who are travelling or away from their home or permanent residence; assistance in other circumstances.
2.2.2 Group of "life" activities
- Life insurance, not linked to investment funds, excluding dowry and birth insurance.
- Dowry and birth insurance, not linked to investment funds.
- Life, dowry and birth insurance related to mutual funds.
- Insurance existing in Ireland and the UK called "permanent health insurance" (non-cancellable long-term health insurance).
- Tontine operations.
- Capitalisation operations.
- Management of collective pension funds.
- The transactions referred to in book IV, title 4, chapter I of the French "Code des assurances".
- Operations relating to the duration of human life defined and referred to in social insurance legislation, in so far as they are in accordance with the legislation of a European Member State, and carried out or managed by insurance undertakings at their own risk.
2.3 Policy on rules of conduct
We respect the rules of conduct, whether they derive from the law or from the deontology for insurance intermediaries.
This also means that, as a member of FVF and BVVM, we also follow the rules and principles adopted at sectoral level by the professional federations for our conflict of interest policy and remuneration policy.
2.4 Fees
For the services of insurance mediation, we receive a fee from the insurance company, which is part of the premium or a fee charged separately to the client. In addition, a fee associated with our firm's insurance portfolio with the respective insurance company for which additional tasks are performed for the benefit of the insurer is possible.
2.5 Conflicts of interest
The conflict of interest policy is an integral part of the rules of conduct within the Hillewaere Insurance group. Should a conflict of interest present itself, strict procedures will take effect. If necessary, this will be communicated to you in an appropriate manner.
